    A total of 20 participants took part in a long-distance basketball shootout held recently at the Baker Boys' Club.

Willie Green captured first place in the 12-under age division of shooters; Charlie Paseka took top honors in the 13-14 age division; and Pete Harter was the winner in the 15-18-year-old division.

    A trip to Florida by Chet Bartol, 1415 Country Club Drive, proved to be more than just some fun in the sun.

Playing golf at the Doral Country Club "White Course" last Saturday, he scored a hole-in-one on the par 3 fourth hole. Bartol used a pitching wedge and the shot was witnessed by Alice Baker, Neil Henke and Bob Bert.

    Isadore A. Carnegis, Warsaw, has been initiated into Kappa Delta Rho social fraternity at Purdue University for the coming year. A sophomore in aeronautical engineering at Purdue, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Angel Carnegis, 615 E. Main St.

    Trans-Atlantic telephone service from Warsaw to Antwerp, Belgium, and Brussels, Belgium, will be available after 6:30 o'clock this evening at the rate to both places as follows: Initial rate for three minutes, $81, each additional minute $27. Report charge will be $11. The telephone line utilizes undersea cable lines. Two months ago the local office announced facilities enabling telephone service to London, England.
