    The Warsaw Racquet Club was well represented at the USTA-sanctioned Western Senior Indoor Open, played in Madison, Wis.

Joe Beeson, Winona Lake, was a double winner. He won the 60-and-over singles division by defeating Walter Morris of Ames, Iowa, 6-2,64. He also combined with Jack Sanders of Elkhart to win the 55 and over doubles.

January 20 1980

    Ham radio operator Curt Van De Water, WA9RXP, of Atwood, operated ham station HR10P in Honduras recently. Van De Water, a longtime local ham operator, contacted more than 7,000 amateur radio stations around the world while in Honduras. Countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia as well as North America and South America were talked to by voice and Morse code during Van De Water's 10-day stay.

    Baker's bowling team, of North Webster, placed first in a women's bowling tournament, held at Muncie last month.

Bowling with Baker's team were Marguerita Kocher, Dolores Epsteen, Sally Ringgenberg, Mary Ann Rex and Ethel Johns. Mary Stalter is the sixth member.

January 20 1930

    Transatlantic traveling holds no terrors for two Chicago youngsters who passed through Warsaw on the Pennsylvania Manhattan Limited. Fortified with their dolls and new story books, Gerda Klautsch, 6, and Elizabeth, 4, are taking a trip to Berlin unaccompanied. Little Gerda is playing mother to Elizabeth and both youngsters had already made friends with the Pullman porter and passengers on the train when they passed through Warsaw.
