    PALO ALTO, Calif. - William Clarence Manning Jr., son of William and Joyce Manning, Warsaw, has received a doctorate of philosophy in microbiology from Stanford University. He received the degree in July 1990.

A 1980 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, Manning resides in Menlo Park, Calif., where he is doing postdoctoral research in immunology at the Stanford Medical School.

    BREMEN - Triton's wrestling team produced two individual champions, a second-place and a third- place, at the eight-team Bremen Invitational, which was good enough to enable the Trojans to finish fourth.

Triton's championships came at the 119-pound weight class where Jerry Bradley decisioned New Prairie's Urminski, 2-0, and at 126, where Bill Blackford remained undefeated with a 5-2 decision over Jim Bode.

    Bill Zuder, Bourbon, is the 1951 all-events champion of the Warsaw city bowling tournament, but the trophy for the best actual score goes to Bill Rex, manager of the local Royal Alleys, it was announced by Clarence Best, city league secretary.

Zuder's total score of 1,910 pins, including a 270-pin handicap, gave him first place in the all-events contest. His actual score was 1,640. Rex finished in a two-way tie for third place with a total score of 1,863, but his actual score of 1,746 pins was tops for the tournament.

    The Woodrow Wilson, 17-cent black postage stamp, which is used for the purpose of postage and the payment of the 15-cent registration fee, was put on sale at the Warsaw post office this morning by Postmaster Orville B. Kilmer.
