    The Warsaw resident who held last week's $100,000 Powerball ticket has claimed his winnings.

Michael McComber bought his winning ticket for the Dec. 29 drawing at Marsh in Warsaw.

    Martha Hines, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Male, Warsaw, and a 1972 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, has completed all requirements for the bachelor of science in nursing degree at Indiana University. At the I.U. School of Nursing recognition ceremony, in Indianapolis, she was recognized as graduating with "highest distinction."

    Little Cynthia Louise Howell was the first baby to arrive in Warsaw on New Year's Day. She arrived only 21 minutes after the stroke of midnight. She was born in Murphy Medical Center to Mr. and Mrs. William Howell, Claypool.

A New Year's baby was also born at the McDonald Hospital, where Debra Ann Minear was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Minear, Warsaw.

January 2 1928

    Fourteen men and one bathing beauty, "Miss Wabash" Florence Dixon, took part in the annual New Year's day bathing party and snow frolic at Silver Lake, 12 miles south of Warsaw.

Fifteen hundred persons, including many from Warsaw, Mentone, Claypool and Silver Lake, watched the antics, snow fights, swimming and diving from a platform ten feet above the water, a wrestling match in the snow between Auree Scott, former Olympic team wrestler, and Jolly Scott, former Purdue University coach.
