    Kara Kramer, daughter of Dan and Bonnie Kramer, won the District Elks "Hoop Shoot" contest.

Kara, a third-grader at Mentone School, will participate in the state contest at Anderson Feb. 24.

January 18 1981

    Warsaw's Scott Hutcherson threw Rochester's J.D. Heckathorn to the mat in the 119-pound finals in Saturday's NLC meet. Hutcherson won here with a 13-4 decision, giving him 20 consecutive wins this season.


50 Years Ago

January 18 1956

    A unique career is followed by the Rev. Richard Dickson, 36, of Rochester, pastor of the Rochester Nazarene Church. The Rev. Dickson was recently named chief deputy sheriff in his county. He is a veteran pilot of World War II.


75 Years Ago

January 18 1931

    Eight tables of bridge and dominoes were enjoyed at the Business and Professional Women's party held at the club rooms. There were 31 members and guests present. Minnie Gary won first prize at bridge and Alice Shaffer won second. First domino prize was awarded to Olive Bloom, and second to Mrs. Charles Carteaux.
