    Area residents will have their first glance at the new Kosciusko County group home for girls during special "Housewarming for Byrer Manor." Byrer Manor is slated to open this summer and will provide residential foster care for girls ages 10-18 who are in need of a structured and caring environment.

Jan. 29 1972

    Twenty-two men from the Syracuse police and fire departments and Elkhart County sheriff's department are being taught scuba diving in a 10-week course led by conservation officer Earl Money, who is the Kosciusko County representative of the Red Cross.

    One of the nation's highest Boy Scout awards, the Meritorious Achievement Award, was presented to 16-year-old Charles "Chuck" Myers of Milford by district Boy Scout leaders. Myers was a member of Milford Troop 47 and held the rank of Life Scout.

Jan. 29 1922

    Directors of Winona Assembly and Schools adopted proposed plans for the early removal of the Winona Drug Store building and a one-story section of the administration building to a location across the street adjoining "commercial row." The group planned to make a park on the vacated property, which adjoins the Billy Sunday Tabernacle.
