Dr. June Reed, Yarnelle Point, was recently notified by The Society of Nursing Professionals that she had been selected as one of the outstanding nurse leaders in the United States. Dr. Reed's name will be included in "Who's Who in American Nursing 1986."
Paul Eckert, a Warsaw Community High School sophomore, took top honors in the annual Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District speech contest when he gave the winning speech on better use of soil and water resources.
The honor roll of Kosciusko County men and women who served in World War II was dismantled by Don Endicott, its designer and builder, in preparation for the permanent installation of name plates in the rotunda of the courthouse. Dedicated Nov. 11, 1943, the memorial carried the names of approximately 2,500 veterans.
The annual harvest of the ice crop to supply Warsaw and Winona during the coming summer was begun by the Warsaw Ice Co. Crewmen for the company scraped snow from ice on the north side of Center Lake while others cut it and moved it up runways into the ice houses. The ice was reportedly 8 inches thick and of an unusually fine quality. No ice was scheduled to be harvested from Winona Lake since the ice houses on Eagle Lake were destroyed by fire earlier.
