    They are springing up in every hamlet, village and town throughout rural America, and in Kosciusko County, the video rental business has never been better. Right now 25 to 35 percent of all Americans have VCRs.

    Demolition crewmen razing the old Sharp Hardware on West Center Street found themselves victims of delusions of cold temperatures when the temperature sign on First National Bank stuck on 0. Just one block east, Lake City Bank temperature gauge read a pleasant 60 degrees.

Jan. 13 1947

    Burglars returned a woman's purse and $63 they had stolen from a Clunette farm home. Kosciusko County Sheriff Ray Henderson and state trooper George Coon said burglars mysteriously returned the purse and money. The purse was found on the front porch of the home and the cash under a nearby rock.


75 Years Ago
Jan. 13 1922

    Eight Browning machine guns, 77 rifles and eight .45-caliber Smith and Wesson army revolvers along with 10,000 rounds of ammunition arrived in Warsaw for the local militia, Company L, 151st Indiana Infantry Reserve, which mustered about 65 men. The ammunition and weapons are stored in the temporary armory, the old Red Men Hall above the Rutter Hardware Co.
