NORTH WEBSTER - The North Webster Elementary School staff and PTFO will honor Richard R. Long, retiring principal, at a reception at the school cafeteria.
The Grand Winners in the Daughters of the American Revolution history essay contest, sponsored by the Agnes Pruyn Chapman Chapter, DAR are: Michelle Keck, Jefferson School fifth grade; Stacey Lee Ellis, Middle School, seventh grade; and Philip Yoder, Jefferson School, sixth grade. The first place winners at each school were; Joely Earl, Atwood; Laurie Harman, Claypool; Gina Cornelius, Leesburg; Kelly Manahan, Lincoln; Beth Brune, Madison; Kelli Morgan, Washington; and Melissa Gravis, Washington.
Derrill Wolkins was elected president of the National Junior Honor Society of the Warsaw Junior High School at a recent meeting held for the purpose of electing new officers and members.
H.L. Hire, of Mentone, a junior in the Purdue University School of Chemical Engineering has been appointed cadet second lieutenant in the Purdue ROTC Unit, according to announcement by Major J.E. McMahon, commandant.
