    Warsaw Police Chief Craig Allebach was honored recently with a plaque for his contributions to DARE. The surprise presentation took place at the Lincoln School DARE culmination. Presenting the plaque were DARE officers Terry Polston, Lee Ann Richardson and Bret Richardson.

    The Purdue University Department of Bands has announced that Julia Marie Zimmerman, Warsaw, has been accepted for membership in the Purdue University Bands. Julia plays cornet in the Warsaw Community High School Band is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Zimmerman.

    Ellen Rasor will head the Warsaw Women's Bowling Association for the coming year, having been elected president at the association's annual dinner meeting this week.

Other officers elected were Lila Robinson, vice president; Carolyn Minton, secretary; Pearl Marks, treasurer; and Edna Evers, sergeant at arms.

    Fishing through the ice on Winona Lake at a point near the Winona entrance building where the exhaust steam from the Winona pumping station keeps the lake water warm, scores of local fishermen and not a few women, have recently been landing some excellent catches of large blue gills. On a recent Sunday some 25 fishermen were thronged about this favorite fishing place.
