Dwight Bechtol, north of Burket, an 18-year-old Burket High School boy has invented a gasoline-propelled ice boat. Bechtol, a nephew of Oliver Goshen of Warsaw, took an old Ford car engine and made the boat, propellers and all. He did not buy five cents worth of parts.

The boat was completed last week and Sunday at 2 p.m., the initial and successful trip on Yellow Creek Lake was made before a crowd estimated at 100 persons.
