February 21 1990

    The Washington Hornets made it a clean sweep as they won both the boys and girls Warsaw Community School Corp. Elementary championships at the Tiger Den.

In the girls final, Washington avenged their only loss of the season by defeating the Jefferson Trojans 24-20. In the boys final, Jefferson battled Washington down to the final gun before losing 31-28.

February 21 1975

    H. Dale Tucker, a Warsaw real estate and insurance broker, Friday filed his intentions to seek election in the May 6 Democrat primary for mayor of the City of Warsaw.

Tucker announced his plans to become a Democrat candidate for mayor in January, and if he is the party's choice in May, he will face a Republican in the November city election.

    Bonnie Miller, daughter of Opal B. Miller, 115-1/2 W. Market St., was recentlyelected secretary-treasurer of the Indiana State Teachers college symphonic band.

Other officers include Robert Sunkel, president; James Long, vice president; and Roy Thompson, second vice president.

    A meeting in honor of the 61st anniversary of the K of P Lodge was held by the local organization Thursday evening. Fifty guests attended. Music, readings by Lucile Gillespie, Mrs. Ernest Clase and Alice Bennett, and talks by Marion F. Fellow, Herschel Lehman and Judge L.W. Rosye were heard.
