    Triton put up a good fight early, but could not match the high-powered offense of the sixth-ranked Warsaw Lady Tigers, who won their fifth straight girls basketball sectional title by a 78-46 decision Saturday night.

    Joe Kennedy, Ball State University freshman, has recently been selected as one of three accompanists for the University Debs, a girls' vocal group which tours Indiana, and also as an accompanist for the University Singers, who travel worldwide.

Kennedy, who plays bass for these groups, is a 1975 graduate of Wawasee High School. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Kennedy of rural Syracuse.

    Janet Walter, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Walter, of North Maple Avenue, Warsaw, placed fourth in the national majorette contest which was one of the features of the Winter Carnival at St. Paul, Minn., earlier this week. Janet competed with 75 majorettes from 30 states and Canada. She won two batons and a cash prize of $60.

    On Sunday at one time 175 persons were counted fishing through the ice on Palestine Lake, six miles southwest of Warsaw. And everyone was catching good strings of fish, some bass, but mostly blue gills and perch. On Saturday afternoon 123 persons were counted dotting the little picturesque lake. Other lakes near here were likewise crowded with fishermen, but not to the extent of Palestine. The 175 persons made the small lake pretty well populated.
