It would seem Harrison Elementary School sixth-grade student Kevin Davis, 11-year-old son of Art and Laura Davis, Warsaw, is a budding young star. After appearing in "Our Town," "Music Man" and "A Christmas Carol" this year at Wagon Wheel Theatre, Davis has turned his sights on an even bigger market. He was one of more than 100 youngsters who auditioned for a part in Fort Wayne's Civic Theater production of "Peter Pan" and was one of the lucky eight chosen to participate.
A special valentine honored by Jefferson Elementary sixth-grade students this week was Mrs. P.D. (Lena) Parks. The celebration marked the last year of use for the original building constructed in 1906. The structure will be torn down this spring to make way for a newer, larger facility.
George M. Fleck, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ford Fleck, South Whitley, received honorable mention in the 11th search sponsored by the Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was one of eight seniors chosen in Indiana out of 260 in 36 states. Winners were chosen from among 2,114 competitors in all 48 states on the basis of their showing in a science aptitude test, their scholastic records and their own science projects. Fleck's entry was a thousand-word essay on "Crystals."
The regular meeting of the Boy Scouts of Troop 1 was held at the Boy's Club Tuesday night. There were 24 present and five excused. Stanley Boggs and David Gast were sworn into the troop and given their tenderfoot badges. After the meeting was dismissed a council meeting of the officers was held. The rest of the boys played basketball and other games.
