    The Mentone Tri Township fire control board and the Mentone Fire Department recently honored two of their members. Don Smythe, upon his retirement in January, was honored with a plaque for 38 years of service to the fire department. Joe Good was honored with a plaque for serving as chief the past 14 years. He will continue to serve the department as treasurer.

February 19 1975

    Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Warren, Rt. 1, Tippecanoe, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Feb. 23 at Teel's Restaurant, Mentone.

Their daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Martha Parker, will also celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on the same date.

February 19 1950

    Mrs. Leo Valentine, of near Mentone, and Mrs. Haven Cook, of this city, were winners of the prizes awarded by the Clark Hat and Dress Shop on Dollar Day. A slip was awarded to Mrs. Valentine and a pair of gloves to Mrs. Cook.

    Winona's beautiful church, built entirely by Warsaw labor and called one of the most complete in this part of the state, will be open for inspection tonight when several hundred Warsaw and Winona men and women assemble for the Washington birthday banquet at 6:30 p.m.
