    A total of five youths from the Kosciusko County chapter of the Boys' and Girls' Club have been declared local level champions in the annual Nike National Jump Rope Challenge.

Winning championships on the local level were Jerrod Turpen (6-9 years old), Nikki Davis (10-12), Ryan Hernandez (13-15), Missy Hopkins (16-18) and Amber Titus.

    LAFAYETTE - Congressman Floyd Fithian has nominated 29 youths for appointment to the United States service academies. This group of high school seniors from the Second District includes two women.

Nominated for the Air Force, Naval and Military academies from Kosciusko County was Rudolph A. Berger, III, son of Rudolph and Harriet Berger, Warsaw, student at Warsaw Community High School.

    Lucy Wolfe, Warsaw, has been chosen for one of the leading roles in Moliere's play, "The Ridiculous Coquettes," to be presented Feb. 24 for a convocation at Ball State Teachers College. A sophomore, Lucy is a member of Spotlight Theater and a pledge of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

    Jefferson Regenos, Warsaw, will celebrate his 70th birthday Saturday at Mentone with his twin brother. Both have lived in Kosciusko County for 69 years. Jefferson says that in all this time no doctor has had a chance to feel his pulse or call him sick. He also states that he has been a happily married man for 48 years.
