    Being a firefighter is "no big deal" to Amanda Shoemaker, but she's making history in Warsaw.

Shoemaker was recently voted a member of the Warsaw volunteer firefighter crew, and Warsaw Fire Chief Ken Shepherd said the city has never had a female firefighter among the ranks, either volunteer or paid.

February 17 1980

    George Brelsford, playing in the Monday night Continental League, rolled a sparkling 723 series. Game scores for the second 700 of his career were 214, 266 and 243. Such accomplishments are nothing new for Brelsford, who a year ago rolled a 299 game.

Meanwhile, Kirk Wyman, bowling in the junior-senior league on Saturday morning, scored a 608, with games of 209, 214 and 185.

    Glenn Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Mitchell, of 514 Segal Street, is a member of the cast of Hanover College's next theatrical presentation of Elmer Rice's, "Street Scene." Mitchell, a freshman, is a political science major. He is a graduate of Warsaw High School.

    Robert Pfleiderer, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Pfleiderer, of this city, has been selected from a class of students to broadcast from station WLAC at Nashville, Tenn. He will broadcast between the hours of 2:30 and 3 p.m. Saturdays.
