    Randy Warren was awarded the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District Teacher of the Year award. Warren has been an agricultural teacher at Wawasee for 15 years. Presenting the award was SWCD member Garry Tom.

    Senior members of the Warsaw Community High School band to compete in a state-wide contest at Indianapolis on Feb. 21, are, Lisa Goodman, bass clarinet; Dan Kealey, percussion; Dan Spore, baritone saxophone; Kris Bardos, piccolo; Sue Bouman, flute.

    Atwood's 200 telephone subscribers will go on a dial system at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13, it was announced by E.H. Goshenour, commercial manager of the North Manchester exchange of the Indiana Associated Telephone corporation, which operates several telephone exchanges in this area.

The new dial switchboard will be unattended. Toll calls will be handled on a direct line to Warsaw. All trouble and service calls will go directly to Mentone.

February 17 1926

    Fire almost wiped out the entire business district of the town of Burket, 10 miles southwest of Warsaw, at 10:30 o'clock last night (Feb. 11).

The loss is variously estimated at upwards of $35,000 to $40,000. Five business buildings, all frame, including the L.B. Mendel general store, the post office building, occupied by Peck Hatfield's barber shop, the People's Telephone Exchange building, J.L. Smith's restaurant and general store, the Jack Smith cream station in the same building, and the Ellis Tucker restaurant were destroyed.
