    Jim Anderson Jr. recently served as a legislative page to Sen. Betty Lawson at the Indiana General Assembly. Anderson is a 13-year-old student at Edgewood Middle School, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Anderson.

    Marine Staff Sergeant George R. Hawn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Hawn of Rt. 2, Village Annex, Syracuse, has graduated from Drill Instructor School.

During the demanding nine-week course at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, which emphasized leadership by example, students gained the knowledge, command presence and instructional abilities to train newly enlisted Marines.

    Robert M. Wade, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. Wade, Silver Lake, received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering at the recent commencement ceremonies at Purdue University. Robert is the youngest of three Wade sons, all of whom were graduated from Silver Lake High School and Purdue University.

    The Cheerful Workers of the Palestine M.E. Church met with Mrs. Blanche Doran Wednesday for an all day meeting with a pot luck dinner. The day was spent piecing and knotting comforters. Those present were: Mrs. Edison Vandermark, Mrs. Charles Vandermark, Alice Dunnuck, Mrs. Mendel, Betty Oplinger, Blanche East, Lola Lowman, Mrs. Ralph Byer and children, Mrs. Audrey Boggs, Blanche Doran and children; and Mrs. Gen. Anderick. The guests were Mrs. Harry Eherman and son, Mrs. Blonde Warner, Mrs. Jesse Sloane and Mrs. Roy Kreamer.
