    WINONA LAKE - Ron Sellers was presented the service award for 1994 from Winona Lake Fire Department Chief Roger Gelbaugh. Gelbaugh also presented the fireman of the year award to Brian Haines.

February 10 1980

    Jesse Fransden, an exchange student from Copenhagen, Denmark, and Dave Hudson, served as pages in the Indiana House of Representatives for State Representative Thames Mauzy (R-Warsaw) on Jan. 25. Jesse, 17, is a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hudson, of Mentone, Dave's parents. Dave is 14, and is in the eighth grade at Mentone Junior High School.


50 Years Ago

February 10 1955

    Dale George, of Nappanee, was recently proclaimed county corn growing champion at a banquet in Indianapolis. His yield of 129.59 bushels per acre was the top yield in Kosciusko County in the National Selected Five Acre DeKalb Corn Growing contest. Second place honors went to Fred D. Haney, of Akron; third place to John Davidsen, of Milford; and Max Howard, of Silver Lake, won fourth place.


75 Years Ago

February 10 1930

    Superintendent F.E. Robbins at the First Brethren Sunday school gave recognition to 40 members of the school for 100 percent attendance during 1929. There were five who received the diploma for the first year, 11 received seals for the second year, 10 won seals for the third year, nine won seals for the fourth year, three received seals for the fifth year, one gets a seal for the sixth year, and only one completed the seventh year with a perfect attendance, namely Sarah Whitehead.
