    Bill Smith of Pierceton found what possibly is the first dandelion of the year. Along with such celebrations of an early spring is the report that Chuck Brower spotted 10 - count 'em - 10 robins recently.

    Janet Rose Reed, daughter of Mrs. Nell Reed, Mentone, has become the first woman registered professional engineer certified under the National Engineering Certification Program. She is a structural section supervisor with the Austin Co. in Des Plaines, Ill.

February 10 1950

    First prize in an amateur contest held at the Moose Lodge in Goshen was won by the Wayside Starlighters, a musical group of this community. Members are: Glen Goshorn, who plays the Spanish guitar; Dorothy Arnold, accordionist; Norma Arnold, steel guitar; and Frances Roberts, bass viol.

    W.H. Collisson, Winona evangelistic singer, has gone to Neffs, Ohio, to assist in a revival being conducted there by Rev. William Penn Ullom, also of Winona.
