Students, teachers and custodial workers at Warsaw Community High School pitched in to clean up the mess from a faulty sprinkler head that flooded the art room with 2,000 gallons of water. Two kilns, one electric and one gas, were in operation and possibly ruined, according to ceramics instuctor Gary Nieter.
Three Warsaw Junior High school counselors attended the Indiana Personnel and Guidance conference at Purdue University. William Landrigan, Francis Heaton and Judy Whaley gave a presentation at the conference concerning the career day program they sponsor. On career day, 16 students will be bused to the location of their choice to observe the operations, talk to personnel, and become acquainted with the opportunities.
Most farms in Kosciusko County have had a good many owners during the 110 years that have elapsed since the land was opened to settlement, but the Shaffer farm south of Warsaw is an exception. The Shaffer farm was one of the show farms of the county for a half century. The deed of conveyance from Henry Shaffer to the railroad company is dated 1881. The Shaffer farm is being subdivided into lots by Realtors and will be a residential part of the city.
The first of the new silver dollars has reached Warsaw. The coin was made in commemoration of the arms conference. It is designed with the head of Liberty on one side and on the other a dove upon a mountaintop, clutching an olive branch, struck by the rays of the sun, with the word "Peace" beneath it.
