    Syracuse resident Virginia Ditmer, like the rest of us, is hoping for spring. But she claims to have proof that spring is on its way. She spotted some turtledoves Thursday in her yard, a sure sign warmer days are ahead.

    The John C. Peterson Unit 49, Warsaw American Legion Auxiliary, celebrated their 50th anniversary with Mrs. Patrick Fuller serving as the younger president and three charter members, Mrs. L.A. Peterson, Mrs. Ruth Ladd and Mrs. A.E. McConnell, living in Warsaw.

    Mrs. E.H. King, 314 E. Main St., has received an air-mail letter from her son John Hammersley, member of the Byrd Antarctic expedition, which was mailed at "Little America." Hammersley is on his way back from the south polar expedition known as "Operation Highjump."
