    During the course of the daily job, a police officer hears all kinds of funny stories and excuses. This week's topper is from a young man, who will remain nameless to save extreme embarrassment, who was involved in a car accident. He told the police officer he wanted to see how far his vehicle could coast so he turned off the motor. When he did, the steering wheel locked and the car ran off the road.

    Four Triton High School students have been selected as Outstanding Teenagers of America for 1973, according to Howard E. Liggett, principal. The Triton nominees include Janice Kay Gottschalk, Debra Ann Overmyer, Lee Ann Weakly and Kurt Alan Danner.

    Playing at Strand Theatre Sunday, Monday and Tuesday is "Tarzan and the Amazons" with Johnny Weissmuller, Brenda Joyce and Johnny Sheffield. It's the most amazing of all Tarzan adventures! The two hit features Friday and Saturday will be the Cisco Kid in "King of the Bandits" and "Renegade Girl."

Feb. 13 1923

    Electricity for Chapman Lake farmers and summer resorters was assured recently when 15 interested farmers met at the Sutherlin farm near there and discussed the proposition with manager Joseph Lessig, Warsaw. Farmers are elated at the prospects of getting electric power and light.
