    Syracuse may soon be home to a Big Wheel discount department store. Fishers Big Wheel Inc., of New Castle, Pa., informed Kosciusko County planning officials earlier last month of its plans to construct a store in Syracuse. The corporation has purchased an option on about six acres of land, situated on the west side of Ind. 13, just south of County Line Road, north of Syracuse.

    Dr. Walter L. Powers, former curriculum director of Warsaw Community Schools, and for the past four years vice president of Psychotechnics Inc. a Chicago publishing firm, has accepted appointment as coordinator of reading services at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan. He will administer the new graduate school program designed to offer advanced degrees to reading specialists.

Feb. 11 1948

    Two new cannon have arrived in North Webster, to be installed at the Legion home. One is a 37mm anti-tank weapon, the second a 3-inch field piece. Last Friday, Johnny Bockman pulled the guns from Warsaw to Webster with his jeep.

Feb. 11 1923

    Al Cuffel, janitor at the Myers dry goods store, has a birthday today - he's just 62. He was born in Warsaw, a place he has never been away from but a very few times in his life and then not over a day. Thus Al Cuffel is a Warsaw product - a sticker and a stayer; not a roamer in any sense of the word.
