Lt. Luke Grossman received his pilot's wings in ceremonies Jan. 29, at Williams Air Force Base, Ariz. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mr. Leroy Norris, Mentone. He was one of only five men in the class assigned to fighter planes. For his F-16 training, he has been assigned to Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.

Ralph Montel, of Kosciusko County, was honored for producing an outstanding yield of corn at a state awards banquet at the Claypool hotel in Indianapolis recently. Awards were made to the four farmers of each county who had the highest yields of corn in the national DeKalb selected five-acre corn growing contest for 1947. Other county men who placed high were: Percy Swick, second; Charles G. Beck, third; and Vern Hazen, fourth.
Rev. and Mrs. J. Wesley Oborn, Warsaw, have received word from their son, Howard B. Oborn, who graduated from the Boston School of Theology this spring, that he has decided to stay another year and take post-graduate work. He is assistant pastor of the Layden Congregational Church in Brookline, Mass. They have agreed to give him $50 per month more next year if he will stay there.
