    SYRACUSE - Retired Wawasee High School track and cross country coach Jerry Minton will be honored prior to the Warsaw-Wawasee boys' basketball game.

Minton, who retired last year, had 260 wins as boys' track coach at Wawasee, 262 wins as boys' cross country coach and 118 wins as girls' cross country coach. In 1983, he was named Indiana Girls' Cross Country Coach Of The Year.

    Three Tippecanoe Valley football players, including two juniors, have been selected to the Associated Press' Class A all-state team. Brent Hoffman was picked as a running back, junior Tod Utter as an offensive lineman and junior Craig Kantner as a center.

December 9 1956

    Orvin Thompson, Claypool, who belongs to the Burket Busters 4-H Club was a triple winner in the Kosciusko County 4-H three-day grain show, winning first on his exhibits in hay and wheat as well as on shelled corn in the junior group.

Champion ribbons were awarded to Robert Murphy, Wayne Township, for ear corn; Larry Long, Mentone, shelled corn; Orvin Thompson, Burket, wheat; Mark Godschalk, Syracuse, oats; and Terry Hollar, Milford, soybeans.

December 9 1931

    Coach George Fisher announced the names of Warsaw High School football players who will receive sweaters and letters for football this year. Those to be awarded sweaters are John Malcolm, James Latta and Robert Snyder. Letters will be given to Wayne Outcelt, Harold Derry, Earl Shaffer, Robert Wiest, John Mishler, Dale Buell, Forrest Jobe, John Widaman, Frank Ohmart, Wesley Jones, Dayton Sloane, John Gochenour, Virgil McCleary and James Johnson.
