    Shirley Hathaway of Pierceton is in for the race of her life. Hathaway, 30, is the national grand prize winner of a $3,000 shipping spree at Builder's Square, Fort Wayne. She'll have five minutes to make a "dash without cash."

    SAN ANTONIO - Airman First Class Terry L. Lewis, grandson of Mrs. E.O. Lewis, Warsaw, has graduated at Lackland AFB, Texas, from the U.S. Air Force security policeman course conducted by the Air Training Command.

The airman, who was trained in security and law enforcement, is being assigned to Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C., for duty with a unit of the Tactical Air Command. Lewis is a 1972 graduate of Mentone High School.

December 7 1950

    Mrs. Edward G. Polk, of Route 3, was the winner of a Tappan gas range given by the Northern Indiana Public Service Company at a cooking school held at the Lake Theater. Swift and Co., Warsaw merchants and the theater management also cooperated in sponsoring the cooking school, which was attended by several hundred women.
