December 29 1994

    Warsaw firemen continued to monitor the rubble of the former Endicott Building this morning, after flames destroyed most of the building and its contents Wednesday afternoon.

More than 100 firefighters from all over the county battled the spectacular blaze, which gutted the former furniture factory on West Market Street. Core Cabinetry, the only business housed in the building, was totally consumed.

December 29 1979

    The Warsaw Community High School Future Farmers of America basketball team won a tournament recently at Bremen, downing LaVille, Tippecanoe Valley and Wawasee. Team members are Myron Metzger, Jeff Miller, Kevin Jones, Dave Berg, Jeff Stookey, Mitch Goon, Mark Connaly, Tom Sands, Keith Cole and Rick Owens. Coaches are Steve Ehle and John Stookey.


50 Years Ago

December 29 1954

    Bazil O'Reiley, Warsaw High School band instructor, will return tonight from Chicago where he has been attending the Mid-West national band clinic, which opened Wednesday evening with a concert by the Air Force band. The clinic is the most highly recognized clinic in the United States and is held annually at Chicago. It featured high school bands and musicians from all over the States.

    A cavalcade of more than 100 Yellow taxicabs each with an individual driver passed through Warsaw this noon en route from Cleveland to Chicago where they will undergo factory overhauling.
