December 27 1991

    Syracuse contractor Dana Cone undertook a unique project this week at a home owned by Jeff Baker, North Webster. Cone, a framing crew, and Pierceton crane operator John Camden lifted the entire roof structure off Baker's one-story home. They then constructed a second story and replaced the roof - all in one day.

December 27 1976

    Fourteen women donate three to four hours each week at Warsaw Middle School in the health room, giving aid to the students who are injured or become ill during school hours. The student council provided a gift for each one during a recent program in the gym. Volunteers are Madaline Gregory, Dottie Mayhew, Winnie Steele, Carolyn Morrison, Jeanne Franklin, Shirley Shipley, Sheila Burner, Shirely Everest, Ann Gephart, Susie Shaw, Judy Burnau, Ellen Kindig, Nancy Kealey and Joyce McConnell.

December 27 1951

    A sponge-type mushroom was found Thursday afternoon by Francis Shafer Sr., of this city. He and his son, Robert, were running a trap line along a ditch, west of Pierceton. The mushroom was 4 inches long, 4-1/2 inches around. The "root," 3-1/2 inches long, seems to have grown from a puff ball.

December 27 1926

    Four inches of fine clear ice on Pike Lake gave Ed Collins of the Collins Ice Co. reason to express his belief that ice cutting may start within the next four or five days. Ralph Lucas, partner in the Collins Ice Cream enterprises, will have complete charge of the ice packing part of the business while Ed Collins and Frank Lucas superintend the ice cream, bottling, etc. part of the firm.
