Involvement in 4-H paid off for a Kosciusko County youth recently at the 71st annual National 4-H Congress in Chicago.
Scout Troop 819, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus No 4511, recently held an awards night. Laci Bardos, the senior patrol leader, acted as master of ceremonies. The boys receiving awards were, John Henn, Robbie Hardin and Richard Lauwerens, inducted as new scouts; Laci Bardos, star scout; Pat Landrigan and Chris Rogers, life scouts; and Mark DeNicola, tenderfoot scout. Jim Doyle is scoutmaster.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gross, Warsaw, are among the Indiana folks attending the National Farm Bureau convention in Seattle, Wash. Their 11-day trip on a special train includes a visit to Victoria, British Columbia, and to Boys Town, Neb. They are traveling companions of Harry Breading.
The Tyronean committee of awards, consisting of Mrs. Paul Coffin, Mary East and Bertha Bartol, on Saturday evening selected the winners in the contest for the best decorated Christmas trees shown in the business section during yuletide. First prize of $10 was awarded to the Quality Shoe store; second prize, $5, to Glenn Smith; third prize of $3 to Jud Bumbaugh.
