    Adam Prater won the geography bee Dec. 18 at Edgewood Middle School, with Kim Sloan as runner-up.

The competition was the first state for qualifying for the National Geography Bee held by National Geographic Society May 28-29 in Washington, D.C. Winner of the national bee will receive a $25,000 college scholarship.

    MUNCIE - Kent Lawson, freshman, is a member of Ball State University's Jazz Ensemble, which was organized in 1968.

Lawson is the son of Betty Lawson, Syracuse. He is majoring in instrumental music education and plays saxophone.

    Rod Baughn, of North Webster, and a student at Ball State Teachers College, has been selected to be technical director of the all campus production of Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta, "The Mikado" to be presented Jan. 11-12 at the college.

December 24 1930

    A Los Angeles paper in the following refers to a Warsawan; the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Wann, of this city: "Dr. Louis Wann at the University of Southern California, has been selected to edit the western coast volume of an 'Anthology of American Literature,' to be published within a year by MacMillan Publishing Co. Prof. Wann is one of five scholars to receive the honor. The work will necessitate several trips through the Bret Harte and Mark Twain localities."
