    Samantha Schwartz, a fifth-grader at Pierceton Elementary, won her school's geography bee with Alicia Burelison as runner-up.

The school level bee is the first round in the National Geographic Society geography bee, which is in its ninth year.

    Deputy Marshal Paul Scott Quillen of the Winona Lake Police Department and Deputy Marshal James L. Felkner, North Webster Police Department, are among the 100 officers who will graduate from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Dec. 18.

    Ten area students have been selected for the Manchester College Chapel choir. They are Geraldine Harris, Bonnie Freed, Linda Warner, Carolyn Schuler, Bob Keaffaber and Charles Boyer, all of North Manchester; Valeene Hayes, Winona Lake; Edward Niles, Cromwell; Kenneth Bush, Claypool; and Julian Schrock, Nappanee.
