    The 18th annual National Invitational Wristwrestling Championships were held Dec. 10 and 11 at Kaptain's Katch Marina in Edgerton, Wis.

Roger Taylor of Warsaw took first place in the flyweight right-hand class. It is his second national championship.

December 22 1979

    Coach Charlie Smith of Class A. state football champion Tippecanoe Valley has been named his class's coach of the year by the Region II Indiana Football Coaches Association.

Smith, the only head coach Valley has ever had, guided the awesome Vikings to a 13-0 record this season.

December 22 1954

    The Ford's Bowling Lanes team, of Warsaw, won the second annual women's handicap tournament at Columbia City.

The local squad had a total of 3,064 pins, aided by a handicap of 660 pins. Members of the Ford's team were Doris Wright, Dottie Baker, Sandra Hayes, Betty Ruth Evans and Eileen Lichtenwalter.

December 22 1929

    Adalene Hildenbrand entertained Monday evening at a Christmas party for the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Twenty-six members of the sorority were present and enjoyed an evening of bridge. Mrs. Iva Ford won first prize, Dorothy Davis, second, and Helen Gilliam, third.
