Mike Hall, of Leesburg, and his son, Kevin, 11, braved the cold Sunday afternoon for a little ice fishing on Chapman Lake. The two said it was their first time out on the ice this season and that the ice was about 3 inches thick.
When the Red Cross Bloodmobile unit visited the Warsaw First United Methodist Church the following persons received special recognition for total gallons of blood donated. They are: Rev. Robert N. Clater, recently returned to Warsaw from Chicago and celebrating his 50th birthday, four gallons; Eugene Fisher, of 2510 E. Center St., six gallons; S. Richard Ellison, Rt. 3, seven; and Dr. Norman Uphouse, celebrating his 67th birthday, 11 gallons.
A Claypool rural route resident, a pneumonia patient at the Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, was winner of the Crosley-Shelvador refrigerator given by the Waco Supply Co., Warsaw, in a contest. Mrs. Inez (J.D.) Barrett, County Farm Road, won the nine-cubic-foot electric refrigerator in a field of several hundred contestants.
Members of the Etna Green Ladies' Thimble Club enjoyed a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Ralph Mason. About 40 were in attendance. A feature of the party was a Christmas tree bearing gifts. Each member was blindfolded in turn and cut off a gift for herself. Dainty refreshments were served.
