Doug Routh, son of Phil and Janice Routh, participated in a national contest among architects for designing the ornaments to be used on the Christmas tree in the White House Blue Room. Routh is employed with the architectural first, Simon and Walther, in Columbia, Mo.
An invitation was extended to him from Hillary Clinton to attend a special reception for the winners.

Shawn Lenfesty, 9, son of Mr. and Mrs. Courtney Lenfesty, Warsaw, won the second round of competition and was named 8-9 year olds District Champion in the Elks' "Hoop Shoot" free throw contest held at Garrett High School gym.
The first-place trophy was awarded to him for hitting 22 out of 25 free throws. He defeated participants from 12 other Elk lodges from the Northeast District.

The General Telephone Co. of Indiana converted 782 Bourbon telephones to dial operation at 7 a.m. this morning.
Norman E. Watson, North Manchester district commercial manager for the company, stated that the Bourbon conversion was the largest made this year by the company. Service was interrupted for only a few seconds at the time of the conversion.

A new product was put on the market by the Little Crow Milling Co. on Dec. 1, which is a new line of products for this company.
New machinery costing $40,000 has been installed by this company for the making of the Little Crow Wheat Cereals. There are two of these products, one of orange flavor and another coco coated.
