    Instead of buying gifts for each other, the sixth-grade students at Jefferson Elementary School decided to buy four used bicycles and fix them up. The bikes were donated to Combined Community Service for a toy giveaway.

December 21 1975

    Mario Sahagun, a self-employed carpenter and Democrat candidate for clerk-treasurer in the November city election, has been named street commissioner for the city effective next Jan. 1.

Sahagun, who was appointed to the post by Democrat Mayor-elect H. Dale Tucker, succeeds Everette Dunkleberger as head of Warsaw street and sanitation crews.

December 21 1950

    Glyn Schmitt, 16, 321 N. Washington St., Warsaw; Doris Jean Mock, 17, Route 1, New Paris; and Barbara Ann LaRue, 15, Route 2, Gaston, were named as first-place winners in a national young designers contest in which upwards of 7,000 schools were represented.

Schmitt, who is a student of Mrs. Charles Reece, home economics teacher at Warsaw High School, contributed a boxy pajama, zipped up the front, in bright canary yellow flannel.

    The same 110 volt electric light wire now serves a multiple of purposes. Today at Henderson & Parker Electrical store the same electric wire was capable of producing heat in place of a stove or hot water bottle, ice in a new Frigidaire refrigerator in place of the ice man, radio music in place of the wet and dry batteries and light. Groceries, water and visible radio are future electric inventions promised.
