    Warsaw Community Public Library sponsored a book jacket design contest during Children's Book Week. Winners were Curtis Krumreich, Kelly Carter, Dylan Ettinger, Ryan Munsch, Matt Smith, Nathan Baker, Laura Wiseman, Laura Noggle, Jacob Smith and Jonathan Baker.

December 18 1979

    Auditor of the State of Indiana, Charles Loos, was the principal speaker at the 38th Indiana State Police Academy graduation.

Reporting to their district assignments to begin patrol duties with veteran troopers as well as study State Police field operation procedures are John C. Zimmerman, Syracuse, assigned to the Toll Road, District 11, and Neil E. Beck, Nappanee, assigned to Lowell, District 13.

    Ka Rettinger, of Bourbon, won top individual honors in the national junior vegetable judging contest held last week in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a score of 963 out of a possible 1,000 points.

Irvin Lemler, also of Bourbon, placed 19th in individual competition.

December 18 1929

    Warsaw horse-drawn ice wagons were put on bobsleds today and farm wagons also were put on runners, so as to be able to travel through the snow drifts. No progress could be made at all in automobiles without chains.
