    Lynn E. Johnson, operator of the Dairy Queen store in Syracuse, has earned a Dairy Queen Service Award for the fiscal year 1992 for 10 years of service to the Dairy Queen system.

    Joe French of Rt. 2 Akron came home with one of the top prizes of the hunting season when he bagged a 16-point buck.

French was hunting with a shotgun near Burket on Nov. 20, when he nabbed the trophy winner.

    Placements of the judging teams in the grain judging contest at the grain show Saturday have been announced by Leo Seltenright, assistant county agent.

The Syracuse team, coached by William Stotts, placed first with a total of 2145 points, and the Pierceton team, coached by R.V. Reed, placed second with 2125 points. The two teams will go to the district judging contest.

    NORTH MANCHESTER - Henry H. Smith saw a lively butterfly at his farm southeast of North Manchester. It was so lively that it got away. Now what right had a butterfly to be flying around in the middle of December? By rights it should have gone to the butterfly hunting ground long ago. Aren't we going to have any winter? The old timers will have to explain it.
