    SOUTH WHITLEY - Students from Whitko High School recently took top honors for the fourth consecutive year at the Exhibition of World School Children's Art in the Republic of China Art Competition.

Trevor Christman earned a gold medal for his colored pencil drawing titled "Horse and Buggy." Heather Wise received a silver medal for her ink pen drawing titled "The Old Jar."

    Ralph Reiff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reiff, Rt. 1, Warsaw, was among 46 students who recently participated in Indiana Central University's Annual Alumni Roll Call Telethon. The students worked for a two-week period during the evening hours contacting alumni all over the United States.

Ralph, a freshman at ICU majoring in health/PE, helped raise a total of $22,000 for the university during the telethon.

    There are a few shuffleboard enthusiasts at Winona who don't pay much attention to the seasons if the court is reasonably dry. Rev. William H. Davies and Frederick Hunsche played Saturday even though it was Dec. 1.

    Almond Gerard, Warsaw, was elected secretary of the "Northern Indiana Shoe Buyers' Association" Wednesday. This organization held its first meeting in Fort Wayne. It was organized for the purpose of bringing shoe merchants together at certain intervals for the exchange of ideas and to promote co-operation in buying.
