    ANGOLA - Eric Kissinger, a former standout soccer player for Warsaw Community High School, was selected as an honorable mention selection to the NAIA All-American Men's Soccer Team.

Kissinger, a junior at Tri-State University, was the starting back for the Thunder this season. The former Tiger keyed a Tri-State defense that helped the team post a 15-6 record this year.

    A number of area residents spent last weekend dragging in the bluegills along the Wisconsin-Iowa border. Reporting good luck through the ice in an inlet off the Mississippi River were Assistant Fire Chief Robert Gearhart, City Police Sgt. Jerry Hatfield, Spike Stidham, Jake Flowers, Bill Stinger, Marv Kelly, Jeff Gard and Art Johnson, all of Warsaw, Larry Lawmaster, Bourbon; and Millard Laughlin, Mentone. They stayed in Wisconsin over the weekend and walked to a spot on the Iowa side of the Mississippi because, they explained, there is no daily limit in Iowa.

    Donnie Butts, former Beaver Dam High School basketball star, paced the Manchester College Spartans to a 76-39 triumph over Detroit Tech Saturday night in Manchester's first basketball game of the season.

Butts collected 15 points on three field goals and nine free throws to take high scoring honors.
