    Winona Lake Fire Department honored some of its volunteers at a party Saturday. Chief Dick Haines presented the Fireman of the Year award to Ron Sellers and a service award to Roger Gelbaugh, who has been with the department for 19 years.

December 16 1975

    Following a long career as head of the Bourbon Public Library, Mary Fribley will retired Dec. 31. In appreciation of her faithful and efficient service to Bourbon and the surrounding communities, Fribley was honored at an open house and reception Sunday in the library at 307 N. Main St.

Fribley began her career with the Bourbon Library in 1934 when the library books were contained within a room of the Fribley Department Store. The existence of the Bourbon Public Library at its present location became a reality in 1940.

December 16 1950

    Donald H. "Jerry" Lessig Jr., Warsaw, was elected chairman of the Kosciusko district of the Pioneer Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, during the annual district scouters' supper meeting held at the Methodist Church in Warsaw.

Lessig succeeds Hobart Creighton, of near Warsaw, who served as chairman during the past year.

December 16 1925

    A called meeting of the John C. Peterson Post American Legion Auxiliary was held on Friday evening. Three candidates, Mrs. Clarence Robinson, Mrs. Harry Joslin and Mrs. Clifford Goshert were initiated. It was reported at this meeting that the Warsaw unit was among the first three of the states to go over the top in the 1926 dues. Warsaw was awarded a $10 prize.
