    Warsaw Community High School girls' basketball program added another feather in its hat Saturday evening as the Lady Tigers defeated ninth-ranked North Knox 57-47 to win Fifth Annual Hall of Fame Tourney.

The Lady Tigers added the Hall of Fame title to the school's two state titles and two Miss Basketballs. The Hall of Fame crown makes Warsaw just the second school to have a state championship trophy and a Hall of Fame trophy for the girls.

    Nancy Coplen Nellans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Coplen, 719 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, has written an article titled "A Field Trip For Hawaiian 'Diamond' Sand" published in the December issue of "Gems and Minerals."

The article concerns a field trip with her husband, Capt. Gale Nellans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nellans, Mentone, in search of diamond-like stones while living in Hawaii. The Nellans now reside in Hopkinsville, Ky.

December 14 1948

    An Our Town school pupil did some Christmas shopping in the dime store. When he got home with the plunder his mother noted that all the gifts had deluxe wrapping jobs. "Where in the world did you buy your presents?" she wanted to know. The information that they came from the dime store did little to dispel the confusion. Finally, however, the facts emerged. The young shopper saw a sign in a drug-store window: "All Christmas gifts wrapped free." He took the gifts in and the clerks made good, with a big laugh, no doubt. After all, the sign didn't say a word about buying - just wrapping.

    Prosecutor Morrison Rockhill last night feasted Sheriff and Mrs. Milo Maloy, and policemen, W.A. Winebrenner, Judd Pittenger and Earl Burwell and their wives, at a chicken dinner at his home here. The officers accused the prosecutor of serving chickens which were stolen here last Sunday evening.
