The rottweiler, owned by Mike Kreider of Warsaw, was spotted in a tree - about eight feet up - by Mike's mom, Jodie, and wife, Cindy. Randy Rodgerson, Nappanee, received United Telephone Company's October Customer Relations Award.

Upon completing a work assignment, Rodgerson noticed smoke billowing from a nearby house. Rodgerson entered the burning structure to investigate after no one responded to his knock. Through the dense smoke, he saw an apparently stunned woman who had been sleeping and her small child in a hallway. When they didn't respond to Rodgerson's shouts to leave, he led the mother and child to safety.
