    AKRON - Harold Conner was elected president of the Akron Town Council Tuesday night. Conner replaces Charles Sterk and will assume his position at the January meeting.

    Two members of the Dharma School of Tae Kwon Do in Winona Lake Park brought back trophies last week from the Second Annual Midwest Tae Kwon Do and Karate Championships held at Weber High School in Chicago. Jerry McClelland, Warsaw, captured first place in brown belt forms competition, and Scott Zook, 11, Warsaw, captured third place honors in junior free fighting competition.

    Pvt. Thomas F. Keough Jr., 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Frank Keough Sr., Winona Lake, was awarded a gold trophy as outstanding trainee in C (Charlie) Company, 128th battalion, at the completion of the unit's first eight weeks of basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

    Otho Winger, president of Manchester College, North Manchester, and Mrs. Winger will start Tuesday for a trip around the world, expecting to be gone until some time in June. They intend to arrive in the United States from the west in time to attend the annual conference of the Church of the Brethren, which will be held in California during that month.
