    Two former area track athletes recently made news in the track and field world.

John Bazzoni, a former Manchester standout, recently cleared 18 feet 1-1/4 inches in the pole vault for the University of Kansas, and Randy Heisler, a former Warsaw athlete, is ranked third in the nation in the discus and threw the 14th best shot put.

December 10 1979

    There were 13 residents from Kosciusko County among the 240 new Scottish Rite Masons earning the 32nd degree at the conclusion of the Fall 1979 Convocation held at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Fort Wayne. They were members of the Lawrence C. Marshall Memorial Class.

New members include, Marvin R. Abrell, William G. Burgett, R.B. Cosbey, David R. Delp, Robert L. Fox, M. Max Gross, John C. Hawkins II, G. Baxter Lee Jr., Robert A. McCorkle, Garry W. Nichols, John David Snyder, John T. Wade, K.L. Wyman.

50 Years Ago

December 10 1954

    Billy Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Carr, Warsaw, has enrolled in Indiana Technical College, Fort Wayne, in the radio engineering department. Indiana Tech, with an enrollment of 1,100 students, has more than 3,000 graduate engineers engaged in professional engineering work throughout the world.


75 Years Ago

December 10 1929

    The Warsaw negative debating team won from the Fort Wayne North Side affirmative team at Fort Wayne Monday night. The subject debated was, Resolved: "That the State of Indiana should adopt a general system of old age pensions."

Members of the team are Martha Hudson, Lawrence Smith, Stuart VanDyke and Stanley Kintzel as alternate.
