Randall Shafer, a Manchester College senior, was named the outstanding speaker during a "speech night" held at the college. The topic of his talk was "Malpractice." The son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shafer, Route 1, Silver Lake, is a business major with a concentration in marketing.

Gene Robbins, brilliant Warsaw high school football captain and all-conference guard for the past two seasons, received additional honor when he was given honorable mention on the United Press all-state high school football selections. Robbins was one of eight guards given honorable mention.
"Lumber Yard Bill" Connell, printer and well-known successful Isaak Walton, holds most of the county records for landing big bass with casting rods of his own manufacture, and knows every nook of our lakes, besides all the fish haunts and lore, is in The Times big cat contest. "I believe I've got the winner. He's over 14 pounds and not fat yet. But you ought to see his whiskers! Eleven inches from whisker tip to whisker tip."
