    Whitko co-captain Bryan Sherwin held the state championship trophy while principal Art Reinhard spoke to the fans who showed up Sunday for a welcome home rally honoring the Class AA state football champions in South Whitley. School was called off today in honor of the team, who brought home the school's first state athletic championship with a 26-0 win over Tell City on Friday.

    The board of directors of Kosciusko Community Hospital, Inc. has invited many officials and residents of Kosciusko County to a meeting Tuesday night presumably to announce plans for the kick-off of a $1.5 million community fund drive for a new hospital.

    When the owner of a punchboard gets clipped instead of the customer, that's news. Avery Hall and Marshall Wallace, operators of a service station in Leesburg, are out of $300 in cash today as result of a slicked-up version of the old pounchboard racket. Although operation of a punchboard is illegal, Hall and Wallace feel that the expensive 45 minutes they owned their board should be a lesson to other prospective operators in the county.

    Considerable building is now under way and it is believed that the coming spring will witness one of the greatest building booms in recent years at Winona Lake. At the present time, several permanent winter homes are under the course of construction. Both R. Hays Willis and Willis Haymaker, are building new homes.
