A log cabin one-room school house, called "The Heirloom," has been donated to Warsaw Community Schools by Rex Schrader. The cabin was built in the early 1800s and features plastered walls, solid walnut shutters and deep-set windows that show the thickness of the logs. The Heirloom is being dismantled and relocated at Harrison Elementary School. It will be stored by Fred Clark Jr., Syracuse. Funding for the project is being provided by Biomet and the Biomet Foundation.
The Bible Quiz team from the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church won second place in the "A" division of the recent annual Continental Bible Quiz Open held at the Free Methodist World Headquarters at Winona Lake. Team members are Kevin and Mark Long, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Long, and Dwight Heinrich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Heinrich, all of Winona Lake. Melody King is the coach. The team also won the Best Balanced Team Award for their division.
Avis Ferns, Warsaw dance instructor, is attending the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists conservatoire in session this week at the Congress Hotel, Chicago. Mrs. Ferns was accompanied by Mary Ann, Arthur and Marjorie Lou Long and Patty Smith, four of her advanced students who are attending a seminar course held in conjunction with the teachers' convention. Only pupils of exceptional ability who are 12 years old or older may be registered for the seminar.
George L. Bryer and Ed C. Aborn, of The Times force, left for Indianapolis at noon today, going there to attend the first day's program of the International Typographical Union, whose diamond jubilee will be celebrated in Indianapolis all next week.
