Although there was background noise, a youth answered the telephone with a distinct greeting, "Lotz's Castle, home of the queens."
It was the day after the crowning ceremony of the 1980 Kosciusko County Fair Queen - a time when the entire community of Silver Lake and one family were still celebrating the coronation of a hometown girl. Miss Silver Lake, Kimberly Lotz, was crowned the 1980 county fair queen late Saturday night. Interestingly, the fair queen's sister, Katrena, was crowned the 1980 Silver Lake Days Festival Queen this summer - which makes the statement, "home of the queens" quite accurate.

Bill Murphy, 65, Plain Township farmer who has spent all of his life on a farm, was named winner of the Kosciusko County plowing match, making a score of 89 points out of a possible 100 to top two other contestants in the match held at a farm near the McDonald Hospital last week.
Murphy used a two-bottom 16-inch Dearborn plow with a general purpose moldboard. His trashcovering accessories included a jointer and rolling coulter. A 1954 model Ford tractor was used to pull the equipment.

The two water battle teams of the Warsaw Fire Dept. went to Bremen last evening and met two Bremen teams in an effort to cool off. The team composed of Albert, Mike and Bob Hodges won their event while the team composed of Dingie Phillips, Link Hay and Russell Schue lost.
